Nashville Vintage Shopping Guide

Lately, I've been spending more time figuring out my own personal style and paying attention to how artists and other people with really cool wardrobes develop theirs. One thing I've noticed is that vintage seems to be a common thread.

The artists whose style I admire aren't wearing what everyone else is wearing. They've found ways to mix eras, textures, and accessorize to create something that feels like them. No one wants to look like a copy and paste of someone else's style!

Fashion is so trend-driven that it's easy to end up with the same pieces as everyone around you. There's nothing wrong with following trends, but it's also fun to find unique pieces that no one else will have.

I recently learned the difference between vintage and secondhand. Secondhand means an item has been previously owned, while vintage generally refers to pieces that are at least 20 years old and antiques are typically 100 years old or older.

Whether you're searching for a perfectly worn-in vintage tee, a statement piece, or something completely unexpected, Nashville has plenty of places. Here are a few of my favorites and what you can expect to find at each:

Freak Show Vintage

If you're looking for unique pieces with a Western edge, Freak Show Vintage in Goodlettsville is worth a visit. The store has a curated selection of Western-inspired and unique finds. I also thought the prices were reasonable for the types of pieces they carry.

126 N Main St

Goodlettsville, TN 37072

Best for: Unique finds

Black Shag Vintage

Located in East Nashville, Black Shag has a different vibe, with a selection that leans heavily into graphic tees, flannels, and jackets. It's a good place to browse if you're looking for pieces with a more lived-in, alternative feel. I'd consider this one more of an investment stop, as the prices are on the higher side.

1220 Gallatin Ave

Nashville, TN 37206

Best for: Graphic tees

Star Struck Vintage

Star Struck Vintage is a popular stop for vintage shoppers, with clothing for both men and women. The selection offers a mix of graphic tees to everyday apparel, so there's a little more variety if you're looking to browse different categories rather than shop for one specific aesthetic.

604 Gallatin Ave

Nashville, TN 37206

Best for: A mix of men's and women's vintage clothing and a large variety

Galeria Paloma

Galeria Paloma is a fun stop if you're interested in more curated fashion collections. The shop features selections from Miel, What A Girl Wants, and Out of Studio, and more. I noticed a lot of the pieces lean into the 90s and early 2000s, making this a good place to look if you're drawn to that era's silhouettes and styling. They also have a coffee shop!

4106 Gallatin Pike

Nashville, TN 37216

Best for: Curated items and early 2000s-inspired fashion

High Class Hillbilly

For shoppers who love Western fashion, High Class Hillbilly is another one to add to the list. The aesthetic is distinctly Western, and the prices are on the higher end, so I'd go in with that in mind.

4604 Gallatin Pike

Nashville, TN 37216

Best for: Western wear and statement-making pieces

Cherry Picked

Cherry picked is my new favorite secondhand clothing stores! I recently found a 90s leather dress and matching jacket there and I'm so excited about it. You can tell each piece there is in great condition and good quality! The clothing is merchandised by trends and sizes, which makes it so much easier to shop with a specific look in mind instead of digging through racks. The prices are reasonable, too, which makes the experience even better.

341 Douglas Ave

Nashville, TN 37207

Best for: Second Hand trendy pieces

Madelow

Located near Belmont University, Madelow caters more towards a college demographic and streetwear style with plenty of causal and sports team pieces. Think jerseys, sweatshirts, jackets, and sneakers. This is a great stop if you are looking for any sports related items. It also happens to be next to my favorite bagel shop, Proper Bagel.

2009 Belmont Blvd

Nashville, TN 37212

Best for: Sportswear and college-inspired pieces

Every Direction Vintage

Every direction has two locations. The majority of the store graphic tees and sweatshirts, but they also have some statement jackets and accessories. This is a great place to check out if you're on the hunt for some unique items, but don't want to spend a fortune.

1921 Church Street

Nashville, TN 37203,

434 Houston Street Suite 131

Nashville, TN 37203

Best for: Affordable graphic tees

These are just some of my favorite spots to hunt for vintage finds around Nashville, but there are plenty more shops to explore!
