This post is a couple years late... but better late than never!! In 2023, I finally made it to Maryland to visit one my friends from college! I had never had D.C. on my bucket list, but we decided to visit for the day and I loved it!

The district was much larger than I expected from learning about it in school and seeing it on a map. However, I never realized how close all of the monuments were to each other and The White House.
We started the morning at M Street, which is the main shopping street in DC. We stopped in Georgetown Cupcake from the TV show DC Cupcakes to try a cupcake. Some of the shops I remember going in were Aritzia, Tory Burch, Abercrombie, Alo Yoga, Buck Mason, and Brandy Melville. After shopping, we walked up the steep staircase featured in the movie the Exorcist to grab a bite to eat at The Tombs.
Next we headed to The National Mall! Everything is close together, but when you start walking it's further than it looks. We saw The Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, and The White House. If I go back, I definitely want to see the some of the museums.
To end the evening we had a Mint Julep at The Round Robin Bar in The Willard InterContinental Hotel. The bar opened in 1847 and Senator Henry Clay is the reason the Mint Julep became their signature drink. Presidents and politicians are known to have met and made deals here.
